Well, it’s official. I went online to WMUR.com, our Manchester NH tv station to see snowfall totals for towns and cities. Exeter, NH was listed yesterday morning as receiving an official 17″ with possibly “one or two more inches by the end of the day.” It was a big storm that dumped heavy snow, the worst kind to shovel.
Throughout the storm, I stayed warm and content indoors. Our walkways and driveway were cleared by a service and I spent the day blissfully decorating the home for the holiday accompanied by Alexa’s holiday music. All was well until I spotted this sight across the street:
Our senior neighbor trying to dig her car out of the mess. It was obvious she had been working for awhile. I watched for a few minutes to see if she was successful.
She rocked back and forth and nope! She was totally stuck. I alerted my mister who dashed across the street to the rescue. Together they dug and tried again and again to disengage from the snowdrift.
But it wasn’t to be. In the end, it was the seniors’ most trusted rescuers at AAA that saved the day. They arrived late, loaded the car onto a flatbed truck, and transported her car lickety-split to the street.
This snowy misadventure makes me thankful for neighbors who watch out for each other, for our snow removal service that takes good care of us, and for being blessed with warm garages for our cars! This early December snowstorm rewarded us with a spectacular sunset last night meaning high pressure good weather is on the way. And amazingly, all this snow may be a wet memory in 5 days as the weatherman forecasts temperatures possibly spiking near 60°. Yep.
I almost wish the warm weather wasn’t going to return. Eventually, that means icy mornings and muddy afternoons with the dog. I’m glad your husband tried to help, but AAA is a better choice when cars are really stuck. I’ve dug a few out before, and I hope never to have to do that again.

My daughter said the very same thing. She has three young children and immediately thought of the mud. I’m thinking more of ice dams! Had them once and hope never to have them again.

My adult children all have AAA but, alas, I haven’t had it in years. I should re-up.

It was very nice of your husband to try and help, but hats off to AAA for bringing in the big guns to get her out. I hope she’s able to park in a garage when the next big snowstorm comes, because let’s face it, this isn’t the last of it. 🙂

I know she has a parking space in the rear of her home and I’m not sure why she didn’t use it. The snowplow buried her car!

Oh yes, I’m glad have a close neighborhood. The snow is indeed beautiful. And it’s good to remember that no matter what we do, Nature is boss.

The snow is truly beautiful, but not a lot of fun to drive around in! I am assuming as I write this it is gone, but it sure sets the mood for the holiday season!!

I have to make a decision next month on a new car. First on my checklist is 4-wheel drive.

New England is actually one of the few places outside of California that I would like to travel too particularly in autumn. There is nothing like that in the West. I would like to experience real winter weather, but not live in it. I thought I would accomplish that while in Oklahoma, but the weather did not get cold until just after we left.
