Jonah, It sure is! They’ve had a good summer dining on our curly leaf and flat leaf parsley. I plant it in every border and they still didn’t leave much for me.
Felicity, this fella is an eastern black swallowtail caterpillar that feeds on plants in the carrot family: dill, fennel,parsley, Queen Ann’s Lace. It is fattening up on a sprig of flat leaf parsley. The eastern tiger swallowtail host trees are birch, tulip trees, ash, willow and wild cherry. Spicebush caterpillars like… you guessed it… Spicebush! They also like all the sassafras around these parts.
