They are breathtaking. We consider ourselves very fortunate that they land here. The neighbors around the bend took down a massive dead tree this summer, their favorite perch for years. I think the eagles are looking for a new spot.
Elizabeth, They have rebounded but they are not out of danger as long as natural habitat disappears at such a rapid rate. I was standing in my yard on a river in Gloucester VA. The eagles are regulars but they don’t like to see me sneaking up with my camera. I must invest in a good telephoto. When the osprey/eagle seasons overlap, sparks fly and there are aerial battles.
